Once you have your luggage, the next step is to get away from the airport. The airport is located on the west side of Tromsøya a few kilometers from the city center. The road from the airport goes in two directions, either west towards Kvaløya or east towards the city center and the mainland.

It is NOT possible to buy a bus ticket on the bus. You must buy a ticket on the app "Svipper" before boarding the bus. The app is available on App Store and Google Play. The app includes all the bus routes, timetable and much more.

Towards the city center:
The easiest way to get to the city center by bus is either by taking bus route 42 (Stakkevollan via Sentrum) or bus route 40 (Tromsø museum via Sentrum).
Often the buses can be full of both people and luggage as they are not designed for travelers, but for locals.

Towards Kvaløya:
To get to Kvaløya you take the same buses, just in the opposite direction. The bus stops are in the same place, but on the opposite side of the road. The buses to Kvaløya are bus route 42 (Eidkjosen) or bus route 40 (Slettelva)
